Click and scroll heatmaps, drawn from masked session recordings

Where people click and how far down they get, drawn over the page itself. The heatmap is built from session recordings you already opted in to, so there is no second script and no extra data collected for it.

Clicks over the real page

Clicks are placed on a snapshot of the page, per path and per device class — desktop, tablet and mobile are never mixed, because the same element sits somewhere else on each.

Scroll reach

The share of views that reached each depth of the page, so you can see where attention stops.

Replay, masked by default

Recording is off until you switch it on and mark the page with data-replay. Every text node and input is masked in the browser; passwords and card fields are never captured.

Counted, not sampled away

The page says how many recordings and views it drew from, and the query that picked them is one click away.

The evidence

Recordings read for the heatmap

SELECT id, started_at FROM replays
 WHERE site_id = ? AND started_at >= ? AND started_at < ?
 ORDER BY started_at DESC LIMIT ?

The latest 300 recordings in the range are read; the page says when that limit was reached.

What this does not do

Heatmaps are on the Pro plan and up. A page with no recordings has no heatmap — there is nothing to draw it from, and the page says so instead of showing an empty map.
